The SSC CGL Tier 2 examination comprises different Papers depending on the posts applied for. However, Paper-I is mandatory for all candidates. There is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I. For Paper-II and Paper-III, there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

• Mensuration: Computation of areas and volumes for Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base.
• Trigonometry: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only), Standard Identities (e.g., sin²θ + cos²θ = 1).
• Statistics and Probability: Use of Tables and Graphs (Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart), Measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), Measures of dispersion (standard deviation), Calculation of simple probabilities.

Section-I: Module-II (Reasoning and General Intelligence)

This section tests the candidate’s ability to handle abstract ideas, symbols, relationships, arithmetical computations, and other analytical functions. Topics are drawn from:

• Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern-folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and Decoding, Numerical Operations.

Section-II: Module-I (English Language and Comprehension)

This module assesses candidates' understanding of correct English, their comprehension skills, and writing ability. Topics covered include:

• Vocabulary, Grammar rules, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and their correct usage; Error Recognition, Fill in the Blanks, Spellings, Idioms & Phrases, One Word Substitution, Sentence Improvement, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage (questions based on unseen passages).

Section-II: Module-II (General Awareness)

Questions in this module are designed to test the candidates’ general awareness of their surroundings and its relevance to society. This includes current events and matters of everyday observation and scientific experience expected of an educated person. It also covers aspects of India and its neighboring countries:

• History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.
• Current Affairs of National and International importance.

Section-III: Module-I (Computer Knowledge Test)

This module evaluates fundamental computer knowledge, essential for modern administrative roles. Topics include:

• Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), input/output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back-up devices, PORTs, Windows Explorer, Keyboard shortcuts.
• Software: Windows Operating System basics, proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working with Internet and E-mails: Web Browsing & Searching, Downloading & Uploading, Managing an E-mail Account, e-Banking.
• Basics of Networking and Cyber Security: Networking devices and protocols, Network and information security threats (e.g., hacking, virus, worms), and preventive measures.

Section-III: Module-II (Data Entry Speed Test (DEST))

Candidates are required to type a passage of approximately 2000 key depressions in 15 minutes. This is a qualifying test, and accuracy along with speed is paramount. Candidates must meet the prescribed error percentage based on their category.

This paper is specifically for candidates aspiring for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) posts. The syllabus covers various aspects of Theoretical and Applied Statistics:

This paper is exclusively for candidates applying for Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO) posts. It is divided into two main parts:
